Halloween 2009

I figured I should probably blog about all of our Halloween happenings before it's Thanksgiving already!

This year we started off the Halloween fun with a trip to a local rec center for a trick-or-treat. It was cute. The rec center employees dressed up and passed out candy. This was the first time that Jack understood trick-or-treating and he LOVED it!!!

Next, we hit up the Trunk-or-Treat at Adam's parent's ward. Good times. More candy.

The night before Halloween we finally carved our pumpkin. Jack was VERY into the whole thing, and so proud of the finished product.

Halloween morning pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes were made over at the Fagan's. I slept through the whole thing! Adam brought one over to me later.

That night we went to the Lund's house for pizza with the family, and then on to our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. Pizza was GOOD. Trunk-or-Treat was kinda lame (we hardly saw anyone from our ward).

After Trunk-or-Treat, we hit up a few houses in our neighborhood (Jack was just having too much fun trick-or-treating), passed out some of our own candy, and hung out with the neighbors (check out the Fagan's blog for more pictures). Fun times!

Currently I am gaining about a pound a day from all the candy I've been eating. Letting all that yummy chocolate go to waste would be a crime, right?

Jack and Alex had lots of fun exploring the back yard with Trevor's head lamp thingys (yes, that is the technical term) Monday night. They looked SO cute we had to take some pictures!

Happy New Year!

We celebrated New Years' Eve New York style (celebrating the ball drop at 9 pm rather than waiting up until midnight) with a bunch of Adam's friends from high school. We ate lots of pizza, brownies and ice cream, and drank tons of Martinelli's. We don't get together with these friends as much as we used to (ahhh...the good old days of tiny babies and "The Office" parties), so it was fun just to visit and play games. Bonus: we were all snug in our beds WELL before midnight!

2008 was awesome...but we're looking forward to all that 2009 will bring...

Zofan Sunday Dinner

The Sunday before Christmas the Fagans and the Zockolls made their own version of a Cafe Rio salad. It wasn't exactly the same...but it was still DANG good!!! We had the pork (which cooked in the crock pot for like 18 hours), the dressing (which had a bit more of a kick than Cafe Rio's), tortillas covered with cheese for the bottom, rice, beans, guacamole, tortilla strips...everything! It was gooooooood!

During dinner, Tiffany got a phone call asking if it was ok if Santa stopped by that evening (can you guess who?). Jack wasn't too impressed with Santa, but he LOVED the candy cane, and at least he didn't cry!

Ethel M Chocolate Factory with the Fagans

A few days before Christmas, the Fagans invited us to join them in checking out the lights at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. Every Christmas, the Ethel M Chocolate Factory decorates their botanical cactus gardens with TONS of lights. It was freezing cold, but fun to walk through the garden and check everything out. Saturday night, the "Quarantine Crew" visited our house...yea! About half an hour before we put Jack to bed, there was a knock at our door. Adam went to answer it and found a bag labeled "Quarantine Crew." We didn't know who left it...although we had our suspicions (which were later confirmed!). Inside were all sorts of fun toys for Jack: play dough, a foam puzzle, bubbles, a truck coloring book and crayons, and fun "Lightening McQueen" window stickers. Jack has had SUCH a blast with these things over the past couple of days. And he carries his "Quarantine Crew" bag around with him all over the place putting random treasures inside. Thanks Humes family...you made our quarantine much more livable!!!

Playing with the Perrons

This week our good friends the Perrons were in town from Hailey, ID. It seems like every time they come to town our schedules are crazy that week (I had tons of work, plus Adam's open house, plus I've come down with a little bug)..so sadly we didn't get to spend as much time with them as we would have liked.

Tuesday night we got together with them (Josh, Sheena and their kids Kameron and Taelyn along with Josh's brother Joel and his friend...I can't remember his name...sorry!) and just hung out at our house and made ice cream sundaes. YUM! It was fun to just get to chat and catch up. Plus, Sheena introduced me to American Eagle clothes for kids. Too, too cute. Also, too, too expensive for me! (I'll have to watch their sales!)

Thursday we drove out to the house where the Perron's were staying (along with Josh's parents). We hung out for a bit and then went out to dinner at Famous Dave's BBQ. On the drive, Adam and I had driven by the restaurant and Adam was just RAVING about it saying how great it was. We convince the Perrons to eat there and head on over. Well after we've all enjoyed our food (it really was good!), he confesses that he's never actually been there, he just didn't want to drive clear across town to get dinner because he was so hungry (the pickins were pretty slim over by the house they were staying at). He's just lucky the food was really good!

Thanks again Josh and Sheena - we always have a blast with you guys! Sorry we didn't get to see more of each other...we'll try to make it up your way again next summer...
